First High-Level Consultation Event: 27 African, American & European thought-leaders from 15 countries gathered under the chairpersonship of Dame Anne Glover, Chief Science Adviser to the European Commission President and Prof. Patrick Cunningham, Chief Science Adviser to the Government of Ireland.

July 2016, Manchester Town Hall: Final High-Level Consultation Event Codifying the Brussels Declaration on Ethics & Principles for Science & Society Policy-Making

February 2017 – Brussels Declaration Launch American Association for the Advancement of Science Boston

The 2017 Brussels Declaration is a 20-point blueprint for a new set of ethics and principles to inform work at the boundary between science, society and policy. It makes the case for a multi-disciplinary approach encouraging greater integrity and accountability among stakeholders.

June 2017 – First African Science, Society and Policy Indaba

First meeting aimed specifically at maximising the knowledge gained from 2012 – 2017 towards establishing a new five-year, open consultative process towards the 2022 Cape Town Declaration on Science for Social Justice.
