SFSA 2024 – IGNITING CONVERSATIONS ABOUT SCIENCE – ENDS ON A HIGH NOTE WITH PROMISES OF MORE TO COME
With 68 thought-provoking sessions, 80 diverse exhibitions, and three high-level plenaries, Science Forum South Africa (SFSA) 2024 brought together more than 5 000 participants for a week of dynamic dialogue and celebration of science. The forum concluded on Friday, 6 December 2024, with awards recognising outstanding contributions to science diplomacy and exhibitions.
This year’s event was widely praised for its strong continental focus, offering a platform for African leaders to showcase inclusive and impactful science initiatives across the continent.
In her closing address, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Nomalungelo Gina, shared her enthusiasm:
“Science Forum South Africa 2024 was the first time I had the privilege to participate in this wonderful event. I have heard much about it as our Department prepared, and I am delighted to say that my expectations have been exceeded. As our Minister emphasised in his opening address, we need to communicate more, and better, on the role of science in society, and I am confident that the forum in 2025, like this year, will continue to ignite conversations about science.”
